| About: | You will dine in an intimate Victorian room, with luxurious appointments (think mirrors, chandeliers, crystal, china and fine linens). Tallgrass's menu offers fixed price options for four- and five-course meals. Appetizers, such as the trio of multi-flavored soups, are deliciously creative. The entrees range from beef tenderloin to lobster medallions to sesame crusted tuna; and range from good to fabulous. Desserts are always a pleasure, and can include berry tarts, crepes and white chocolate mousse. |

Tallgrass restaurant is located in Lockport, Illinois. I have been there many times and haven't been disappointed yet. I prefer the lower level room; less noise and more comfortable. Food is gourmet and absolutely delicious!!! Great food presentation as well. Check out there website for current menu. For your first time, order the appetizer sampler as one of your choice to get an array of flavors. Oops, the dessert needs work though. Dessert is about my only complaint -- not up to par with the rest of the menu. Reservation is REQUIRE.
My fiance and I ate here after reading the review in our local newspaper in Homer Glen.
Wow.
That pretty much covers it - "wow". Charlie Trotter's doesn't even compare...
I went here in February 2008. The food and service were both excellent! I got the mixed green salad with pears, carmelized walnuts and goat cheese (it was whipped and light). This was amazing. Then for my main meal, I had pork tenderloin with a pear chutney sauce over polena with asaparagus. The pork had pancetta wrapped around it. The portion was perfect - not too much food. The taste was amazing. The smokey flavor of the pork with the sweet pear chutney sauce was just perfect. I had the chocolate hazelnut torte. This was good but not the best I have had. The chef had given us complimentary samples of desserts. The flourless chocolate cake was divine. I would HIGHLY recommend this place. The food is well worth the price!
