The school has an extremeley cold, incarcarated feeling to it as you walk in, though I find the staff friendly and accomadating when Iam there to pick up my son, who suffers from Atism and ADHD. There are locked doors, metal detectors, and search areas set up to pass through before students are sent down their locked hallways. It seems that the school was built more for emotionally disturbed violent children then handicapped children, who are not voilent in the way Ive personally seen some of the high school kids act!
Maybe these children are all just a reflection of their violent backgrounds and the poverty they are growing up in, but they need to be seperated from the emotionally and physically handicapped children, who are put in harms way by having to be in the same presence as these particularly violent children.
Autism is itself is an unique disease with a specially trained staff to deal with thier behaviors, which may be parculiar, but seldom violent, and if the are becoming violent, are there not social workers and staff pyscologists who could act as liasons with the doctors and phyciatrists who are trying to medically manage the child so he/she has the best possible outcome in life they can?
Iam grateful for the staff to help my son every day, as Iam a nurse and understand the stresses of managing clients with difficult behaviours, all who work in tghese service areas deserve
our respect and appreciation. But there all alwaYS BAD SEEDS TO WEED OUT, AS THEY HAVE BURNEDOUT.....
