It's sad but today is the last day for the "Riv". They will close their doors for good after the close of todays business. I will sadly miss them. The food was excellent and there was a charm to the place. It was like having dinner in your best friends basement.I really hope some one purchases the place and keeps the route 66 tradition alive.....
Don't blink, 'cuz you'll miss it! Look for the old Stroh's sign just south of the creek on 53. Absolutely awesome pasta! Can't beat the prices! Only one semi-bad experience, the waitress kept forgetting about us. Excellent food! Great people! Highly reccomend the teutelach (sp??) and the chicken primevera! And a cold draght HighLife!
Yesteryears: Traveling along Route 66 in southern Illinois makes you feel as though the year is 1937 and life is simple. Stop at the Riviera Restaurant and you would think you time-traveled. Super friendly hosts and excellent food. Try their catfish or fried chicken. Unbelievable! Super crunchy and fresh. We stop here every time we come back from St. Louis. A treasure that puts you in a forgotten era.

hey - omg I worked there a short time as did my mom. Glad to hear Bob & Peg are still going strong (or will be :-) - too bad there's not a grant for keeping the place open - it should be considered a historic site in the area!!!
