I love Sapporo, for a suburban sushi restaurant. I used to live downtown, and of course nothing beats Japonois, Mirai, or Sai Cafe in the city, amongst other places. So its not a top of the the line restaurant by any means. That being said, the sashimi is always fresh, the gomae is delicious, and the habachi style sit down tables are fun for the family. Ashley who works at the one in Mokena, is always a sweetheart, and so are the hostesses and servers. The service is excellent, the prices are a tad bit high, but its for quality food. I order super white tuna all the time here, and it has yet to be fishy or yellow! The specialty rolls are awesome, and they change pretty often, they are hand written on 2 boards on both sides of the sushi bar. My husband loves it here too, and he is a sushi snob! So, 5 stars from me and my husband!

For the Mokena location
What a joke, i will never go there again, they had no clue, i made a reservation on Tuesday for seven o clock when i got there there were about fifty people waiting in the resturaunt , there was no hostess the hostess was cleaning tables they had no bartender the waitresses were making drinks as they go and they did not understand English , with every table completely full and having five cook stations and two grills for each station they should have had ten cooks but they only had three cooks .
after waiting one and one half hours we finally got to sit down but there was no cook so after another half hour we left .
this would be a nice place to have a restaurant what a joke
Anyone that even considers going to Sapporo, STOP. The place sucks. I have never left a Japaese steak house hungry until last night. And the quality and the details int he meal were completely lacking. Hamada of Japan blows this dump away. Lets start with the grumpy people. Not one of them except our "chef" could even screw a smile on their faces. Once they took the order we never saw them again.
The food was totally lacking. The soup was some greasy chicken noodle something. The four pieces of lettuce that I got as a salad was floating in a puddle of water and watered down dressing. When it came to the entree, I was shocked and the crappy little portions. Both of my daughters order scallops, this place had cut one scallop into three slices and they each received 5 of those little disks. This is the first Japanese steak house I have ever been in that did not include a shrimp appetizer, well don't look for it here. The variety of the vegetables was poor and the portion even worse. I had 5 bits of zuchini, a couple slices of carrot and a few onions. That was it. The fried rice was dry and there was no option for shrimp or chicken, just dry rice.
OK, lets discuss the "chef" a young guy who I will give credit did at least try to make the experience entertaining. But his skills were completely lacking. His best trick was creating a fire ball on the cook top.
This was 6:30 on a Sunday evening and the place was practically empty, that should have been a clue. The staff are all standing around one of the other cook tops while the they took turns playing around and working on there tricks. It just seemed so odd.
All in all, a very disappointing experience and certainly not a cheap one either. On average $30 per place and that was without soft drinks, at $1.75 each and NO REFILLS my girls decided they didn't need a soda that bad. Once again, if you had plans to go to Sappora, STOP go someplace else.

Wow, take a chill pill man! This place consistantly rules. The salad dressing (a standard ginger) is supposed to be light and a bit watery fyi. Also, NEVER had a free shrimp appetizer at ANY other sushi place. The service is good and friendly, the prices are high - which is totally expected for high quality sushi which Saporro delivers. Sorry you felt so poorly about your night but don't take it out on a real gem of a restaurant... 5 STARS!!!!
