Reviewing pizza is always very hard because essentially, it all depends on what you like. It's like trying to convince someone that one eye color is better than the other. I've actually come across people who swear by Domino's or Pizza Hut. Hey, they didn't get to be the biggest in the world for nothing! Me? I can't stand that stuff. Maybe it's a Chicago thing, we just don't settle. ;)
I would give it 3 /12 out of 5 if this website let me but it's going to be 4/5.
I'm eating the pizza right now.
The sauce is thick, dark, strong, and flavorful. This is not a tangy or sweet sauce. It's a strong, dark dark red sauce. The crust is thin but not as thin as some places I've seen. The outer crust is hard and cracker-like but also kind of greasy. They put on a good amount of cheese but they are a bit weak when it comes to meats like Peperoni and sausage. Not bad, just could use a "bit" more meat when you order that.
Delivery is fast and the pizza is hot but I live 5 minutes away. The same guy delivers every time I order in the evening and he seems like an old burn out but he's polite and as professional as a pizza delivery guy can be. I wonder if he still smokes weed but I think he's just burnt out.. maybe too many hits of acid in the 70's.
Calling them can be a pain. Sometimes I get a guy who can barely speak English. It's hard trying to give him an address or my credit card number. I get him 1/2 of the time and a teenage girl (who is WAY better to deal with) the other 1/2 of the time.
Price is good. I'm 5'10, 180lbs and I can eat a lot. I can only finish 2/3 of the medium and the medium (with delivery) is $14.00. Again, you could be some obese 6'2 320lb guy and this is a snack for you or you could be some twig who would eat 1/5 of this thing. It's hard to say. Either way.. the medium is enough for me and my girlfriend. $7/person is cheap if you ask me.
Arrived just after 4pm when it opens.
Ordered a sausage and cheese with extra sauce and done well.
Lots of cheese and too much for me. Did not tell them to cut back as I had 2 other places and got hardly any.
Not much for sauce even with the extra asked for.
Sausage was just normal sausage. Nothing special to jump at you.
Crust was very thin, crispy and more like a flaky crispy instead of a pizza dough crispy. More like a lard pie crust.
The lady who owns it says they have been open for 10 months and this is the third owner of the same recipe for 40 years.
it ws an ok pizza without much flavor from the sauce but things did go well together.
not what I want in a top quality thin crust pizza but it was thin and crispy.
The pizza here never disappoints. I understand that they use an old family reciepe and it is just fantastic. Great prices also!
