My daughters also attended this studio for a few years, and I wish I would have pulled them and taken them where they are attending several years ago. The owner (Cathy) and the teachers are in this business for all the wrong reasons (the bottom line). Now that my girls are at a wonderful studio in Oswego, their technical and performance skills have improved tremendously. And even more important, they are enjoying it! Steps even tried to tell me that if I took my girls to this studio that I would be spending more money and much more time would be involved....that is entirely false!
Personally I have a connection to this studio and I danced here for a long time. But there is a reason why I won't even step in the studios doors anymore. There is a lot of politics and some teachers are in there for the wrong reasons. But if you have young children that want to have fun, sure this studio could be for you, but there are some definite better studios out there for you in the Naperville/Aurora area.
I would only recommend this studio to young girls whose parents are only interested in seeing their kids perform. For the serious dancer, go some where else. I have been a member of Steps for a number of years. When I initially joined my mother suggested that I join a more serious company. She was right. The fees that you pay here are ridiculous. There is a monthly fee which is over $100, plus costumes costs, competitions fees, work shop fees and lastly an administrative fee which is added to just about everything. This wouldn't be so bad if we practiced more than 2 hours per week and won a competition here and there. For the serious dancers, especially hip hop, there are better programs which will provide more practice hours, better choreography without the price tag. Their focus is actually dancing as opposed to making money.
