This is in the top 5 for Sushi and more: If you are a sushi purist, or just looking for top quality sashimi, then you will be a very happy person once you visit this outstanding restaurant. . The presentation of the food is bright, colorful and creative. The three kinds of tabiko on the menu add some interesting options to the ordinary sushi and sashimi fare.
Now, for the unusual. Oysy boasts a Tuna Tartar that is a work of art. The well balanced combination of tuna, masago and other flavors will make you smile with every bite. Add the creative presentation on top of colorful vegetables in a martini glass, and you will find yourself wanting more.
Cooked dishes such as the beef on the banana leaf and the ginger scallops are also must eats!
The drink menu changes from time to time with creative and pleasant combinations. My favorite is the Caribbean Sunset, not always available, but if you ask, chances are they will make if for you. This tropical Martini is a two toned creation, baby blue and deep red, which stays separated in the glass offers a hint of coconut along with other tropical flavors.
I have visited Oysy a dozen times now, and it remains very consistent. My daughter has declared Oysy the Sushi restaurant in all of Chicago. I say top 5. Stop by, I know you will enjoy this top caliber establishment.
Best Place in Town: Why the wait isn't out the door on the weekends I don't know; maybe because it is further down Michigan than most people venture. This place is absolutely amazing. We always have great attentive servers and everything we've ever eaten is amazing. Their lotus root tempura is too die for (and I don't believe I've seen it on any other menu). Considering the high quality of the sushi and maki, the prices are incredibly cheap. What's better, the cocktail prices are not as astronomical as most places in our neighborhood. We make special trips to the Loop from Wicker Park to get our Oysy fix!
decent place: The place has good quality sushi along with a decent selection menu. The only thing I didn't like is that if you go there for lunch it will take a long time to get the food. So, if you have the luxury of time at lunch, enjoy the place, otherwise dinners would be my choice.
