| About: | Dubbed a Chicago landmark, Gene & Georgetti is a no-frills steakhouse. Although the fillet mignon is good, the food is overpriced for the quality. However, the two-level restaurant does fill up quickly with people clamoring to fill their stomachs. Do not expect to find anything fancy on the menu, or even any descriptions for that matter. Modern trends in food and ambiance have not arrived here, and they probably never will. |

was not impressed..steaks were bland, potatoes undercooked, shrimp and lobster overcooked... calamari was also bland, and for the price you pay..you would expect better... dessert portions were small ..service was great..but the food wasnt!
We were sitting next to the loudest drunkest people in the restaurant. Very foul mouthed and inconsiderate. I asked the waiter to move us he said he could not do that. I then asked him to speak to the people; again he said WE can not do that. The food was cold on arrival. I guess if you are loud and vulgar this is the place to go. I came from AZ what a disappointment. Next night I went to Rosebuds. WOW, the meal was the best I have ever eaten, our server was a polite person with our dinning pleasure in mind. Dump Gene and Georgetti's. Go to Rosebuds for a shear dining pleasure!
Very disappointing....Went last saturday night (5/30). Had 6 pm reservations and arrived right at 6. We were rushed to the far back corner of the upstairs dining room and offered a cramped 2 top crowed in the corner right next to another 4 top with 2 people at it. We were the oly people in the area and there were only a couple of tables seated downstairs.
We were rushed through everything, the T-Bone I got was an odd cut from the loin, the strip end was full of silver skin and gristle I could only eat the tenderloin side leaving 2/3rds of the $44.00 steak behind. The salad was nothing but some wilted iceberg and 1/4 of a unripe tomatoe, and the potatoes that came with the meals were simply sliced and fryed and quite dry and bad.
For the money I'll stick with Gibson's or RuthChris or Mortons. I won't be back.
