The last time my wife and I came here was about 5 yrs ago. Back then, we would go often and blitz ourselves on tapas and sangria. The only real complaint back then was how loud it would be because it would *always* be packed. Last night was the first time going there since then and the changes were horribly unbelievable. This place transformed into a dive.
We are living in the suburbs now and we decided that we'll chance more than just one glass of sangria. The server would not upgrade our sangria glasses to a 1/2 pitcher and said he'd have to void out the two-glass order. 'So what?!?' we're thinking, they're going to get more money! Duh! We just said 'whatever' and took the glasses. We took one sip and noticed immediately that they were watered down. When the server gave us plates from the adjacent table for our tapas, we noticed that the plates were dirty. We felt debris/residue on underside and could see bits on the topside. My wife and I started getting that "What happened to this place?" look on our faces. When the tapas did come, it didn't taste flavorful nor did it look appealing. To top it off, one of the plates (chorizo y morcillo) wasn't cooked sufficiently and we contracted food poisoning. We lived in the bathroom the next day wondering if this was enough to file a suit or notify IDPH (IL Dept of Public Health).
This place used to be the bomb and everyone in town knew it. But after seeing some recent reveiws, I'm not the only one who noticed that things were bad. They must have gotten different chefs and/or different management. What a shame. Lost a once-great hang-out. We will never go back there and I recommend nobody else patrons the place.
The last time that I was there a fight broke out between two groups of thugs, the sad part was that I didn't see management handle the situation. The bartender was the one who was trying to end the disturbance. The music is not updated which makes it a bit terrible, the food is not so great, the place only has about two restrooms, the only good thing is the sangria
I went for my first time last night. The food was bland. Food wasn't good at all. My girlfriend and I had stomach problems from the food. Will never go back.
