   NO recommendation! Upon placing our order at the restaurant, our server/chef told us that there was a $10 minimum per person. As we had not come across this in print nor were interested in ordering multiple items per person, I asked him to indicate where this policy was. He claimed to not understand my question, upon which I attempted to clarify and eventually retracted my order. He then refused to serve us, and we left.

   Wasn't there when you were, but in the 20+ years our family has been going to Hanabi, we have NEVER been told there was a minimum $$$ of any kind. We've only had wonderful experiences at Hanabi, and the chef and his family have always been cordial and accomodating. Reading your review, I can only imagine there was some sort of miscommunication.

   Why would you expect to spend less than $10/person in a sushi restaurant anyway...or any restaurant in Chicago nicer than McDonald's?

   Love Hanabi!: Have been going to this family run restaurant for many years. They serve up the best sushi, shashimi and maki rolls and are incredibly reasonable. But don't overlook some of the hot items, like the tuna teriyaki or kolbi. Truly a gem in Lincoln Park.

   GREAT!!!!: I've been going to Hanabi forever! You can't find fresher sushi anywhere else.
