Typical neighborhood bar with a little southern decor. Decent menu and beer selection. Portions are pretty big, enough to bring some home. Not really too busy during the day, pretty chill place. I've been there about four times and the last time kinda turned me off. went with a friend for a quick lunch... my friend ordered some kind of corn chowder to start.. and got a watery vegtable soup. nothing chowdery about it at all. it's like they just dumped some campels vege soup in a bowl. I ordered a beer and my glass came with some nice lipstick and crust on it! yummy! my food was pretty good though, i'd go back, but would NOT put up with being served something else (vegesoup passing for chowder) and dirty dishes. Meh, kinda of a "wanna be" southern bar. Throwing old beads on the wall does not make you cajun or hip to the new orleans scene.
Great Resturant: This place is a great hangout before a Cubs game. There is really good food and you will sure to have a great time. They have a great brunch on Sunday morning. Somtimes there is even a live band preforming. Also the bar upstairs can be rented for private parties.
Really good all around: If you're feeling down about the recent events in New Orleans, this may not be the place for you, because it's classic New Orleans everywhere in there- but don't let that stop you- it's so worth the visit! If you love New Orleans and are happy with the reminder of a really cool city (that will be rebuilt!!), you'll love this place! Great old mardi gras photos and beads, old New Orleans photos all over the place, big booths, good service, and great food! I got a turkey bacon cheddar rollup and it was so good and my boyfriend got a buffalo chicken sandwich which was huge! Not a fan of gumbo so I didn't try it, but I would bet it's really good. Definitely a good place to go to, for drinks or for dinner.
