Great Original: Bernard has been in Lincoln Park longer than most, the red rooster (located behind Cafe Bernard) is a great place for a date or a couple just looking for a great meal that wont break the bank.

Cozy & Romantic: Great country French food in a small, intimate room with colorfully painted walls. I've been here twice with friends, and every dish I tried was very tasty. The escargots, if you're a fan, are comme il faut. The waiters both times were (or seemed, I know nothing about wines) very knowledgeable about wines. They were also unobtrusive, quietly friendly, and neither obsequious nor haughty. The prices are reasonable - this place is SUCH a good deal for the money.

Hidden Romantic Gem: The Red Rooster is a tiny little French Bistro nestled behind Cafe Bernard on Halsted. They share the same kitchen in fact. Tiny little room with maybe 8 tables and the same charming waiter that has been working there for over 10 years. They have wonderful Chicken Crepes, delicious salads, escargot, foie gras... you name it. The portions are generous and I would recommend sharing an appetizer, entree and dessert with you and your date. It also won't break the bank, the prices are very reasonable.
