User Rating: 1 out of 5 starsbad experience with no apology: Protect your drink when you go to smart bar. My drink was only half empty and the bouncer threw it out. Granted I was dancing near it but the drink was on the ledge by the dance floor. I saw him doing it and was not able to stop him and when I confronted him about it he gave me no apology. I asked the bartender to compensate me and she said she couldn't I tried finding the bouncer who threw my drink out and he avoided me. I was right in front of him asking him to tell the bartender what he did but he said he was too busy. I have been going to smart bar for years now and it was my first negative experience. It is ashame now that they have redid the place that they are starting to act like all the other clubs in Chicago snooty.
User Rating: 4 out of 5 starsThump, thump, thump...: Haven't been to a rave since I was in highschool so it was fun to feel that again. The music was all rave but the dance floor was an interesting mix of hip, frat and aspiring strippers. Music was loud but not too loud. Was still able to have a conversation with friends. Excellent service and very friendly staff, great drinks. Even though this has been voted a Yahoo Best for Singles, there was no meat/meet market vibe. Everyone was very cool.
User Rating: 4 out of 5 starsAin't like it used to be...: At one time Smart Bar was my favorite place to go... Everyone there was friendly (including the staff). Was like revisiting the vibe of raves of old. Now...it's not bad. Some cool people still go there which is a testament to their undying devotion to this place that, when the DJs get to it, can freakin' rock.
