Red Lion Pub Business Overview

Edit Info

Company Information: Red Lion Pub has a fine selection of domestic and British beers, and a quaint British atmosphere. Ask the bartender for the story behind this place. Rumor has it this is the most haunted spot in Chicago. If you are brave, wander up to the second floor tavern where spooks are known to make frequent appearances. Literary readings are often held in this spooky setting. If you are nervous, stay downstairs or stake your claim to a seat in the backyard patio. Food is traditional English, with such dishes as Welsh steak and kidney pies.

It's the entertainment, baby!: Okay, I've heard enough about Britain's cuisine that I've only ordered burgers at Red Lion. Darn tasty burgers, too! Some of the beers are too "manly" for my taste, but what does a yankee girl know? The killer thing about this place is the Monday night "entertainment" upstairs. Horror/Fantasy, bizarre poetry, outrageous open mic offerings -- what more can Underground Chicago want?

I've read about this place in city ghost books such as "CIty Ghosts" by Mary Beth Sammons and Robert Edwards. I live in Chicago ,but I have never gotten the chance to visit this. So my class and I were going to a day out in Lincoln Park, so I suggested the Red Lion Pub. They have the best fish and chips in the world! If you ask the bartender / owner about the place, not only will he tell you the story behind the bar, but he will also tell you a number of ghost stories, Chicago mob stories and a lot of other things. The bar has a very friendly atmosphere, great food, good deserts and for the adults a pretty good selection of liquor and beers (I know these things). I recomend this to anyone who is in for a scare, but also wants to learn about the Windy City's history and eat some great food. Try the fish and chips, even if you don't like fish!
