While I agree that these are the best donuts anywhere on the South Side, be aware of the violence going on in the area. If you are not African American, I would suggest you stay away.

I am over 50 and back in the day there were two great places to go for great donuts on the Southside one was in the L station on 63rd and the other one was old fashion in Roseland. Old fashion survived. It did then and still do make the best donuts in the world. I remember as kid loving watches the owner fry the donut right in front of you. My mom would buy the Texas size and 7 or 8 of us would eat from it. Boy those were the days.

I was in Roseland a few weeks ago and was pleasant surprise to see it was still there and taste the same. I am taking my grandkids there this weekend.

I was at Old Fashioned Donuts yesterday. I've been going there for over 30 years. They taste incredible!! I bought some for a staff meeting a couple of years ago and was only able to get one box of glazed donuts. I went to Dunkin Donuts for another box. Guess which ones were eaten up first? Old Fashioned Donuts of course!
