I have had three great experiences with Haas, Inc. I discovered them after doing a google search of Honda repair in Chicago, and came across an article in Chicago magazine about top auto repair shops in Chicago. Haas had a perfect record. I was skeptical. I took my car to them in October 07 when I heard a loud clanking sound whenever I turned left. Weird, right? My dad told me it might be a PC joint, which would mean something like a couple hundred dollars in repairs. I dropped my car off at Haas in the evening, and they said they'd call the next day with an estimate. While at work the next day, I got the call that they had repaired my car and I could come pick it up. What?? I started to get my defenses all up thinking that they hadn't given me an estimate first, and isn't that illegal? How much were they going to charge me? They said that they drove my car around and when they inspected the wheel well, noticed that a piece of the well had bent and was hitting another part of the wheel well, so they just fixed it. NO CHARGE. Seriously? I went to pick up the car, thinking they would say labor, time it took to inspect, etc. Nope. NO CHARGE. Unbelievable. And the sound was gone. Problem solved. In February 08, I took my car in again. Again, another suspicious noise. My dad (who I'm starting to mistrust) said, "could be a problem with the belts." Again, something like $400 bucks. Haas called me today to say that they couldn't see that anything was wrong with my car, the belts were fine, but recommended a couple of maintenance things I am due for, and maintenance things I had skipped earlier in the year, which I gave them the green light for. Very professional, and not sketchy. I VERY HIGHLY recommend them. UPDATE: I took my car in today (this is my third good story about them) for a Spring tuneup and because I had been having some problems with my exhaust. They figured out the problem, and said that there was a simple repair that could be done at another shop that would cost me $50 and recommended that. They said they could fix the problem there, but it would be complicated and cost me $1000, so they recommended I go for the welding elsewhere. How refreshingly honest!
I have been to HAAS on three occasions and they have been very helpful every time. They will let me know what needs to be fixed and when (this was helpful when I was strapped financially and looking for a job). Their final prices are typically lower than their estimates and they explain everything. I am far from being a car guy but I don't need to be, I trust HAAS' advice and their work. My 96 Honda runs great!
I recommend this place to everyone.: This place is great!!
My family has been using these guys for 15 years, on 3 different cars and I now go out of my way just to use them. They only fix what needs fixing and will tell you what can wait until later to repair. I recommend this place to everyone. These guys are one of the few people I trust. Seems like every time I go in there, they charge me less than I expect, the work is done on time, and they are very polite and explain everything I ask them to. They are the reason I continue to buy Honda or Acura cars.
