| About: | When it comes to pizza in the Halsted area, Philly's Best more than does the trick. The environment is very casual, and food is served fast food style; however, if you want to sit and eat, plenty of tables are available. The deep dish and stuffed pies are both available, along with a standard array of toppings. Oven baked grinders are another favorite, with the "Combination," made of salami, bologna, ham, onions, green peppers, tomato and cheese, being especially popular. User Rating: 5 out of 5 starsGrinders, Pizza, Cheesesteaks, It's all great!!: I love this place and I go back often. It's clean, fast, and efficient. There's also free wi-fi for the laptop people. The only think I don't like is the fried mushrooms, other than everything else is above average. Make sure to try their fried dough. Yum.

User Rating: 5 out of 5 starsIt Cures the Homesickness..LOL: I was born in Chicago,but raised in Philly {Germantown!!},and on Cheesesteaks. Philly's Best is a good place to satisfy the urge if you can't get to Philadelphia.I met the owner before he moved down the block on Belmont.He moved here from Philly in '72.The store sells Tastycake products.If you're truly from Philly you'll know what that is.They sell "Herrs" chips too!! The ONLY thing that's missing is Frank's Soda. It's "soda" in Philly.
Now the Cheesesteaks???....are good! The service is fast.The steak is indeed authentic...not like the imposters you see on the restaurant menus,or the phony "Original Philly Steaks" places you see all over Chicago. THIS PLACE IS LEGIT!!! If you want a REAL,legit,Philadelphia Cheesesteak THIS is the place to go in Chicago.The ingredients are numerous and fresh.They also serve "Grinders" know what those are?? if not,you're not from Philly.It's what all these Subway shops have just NOW discovered. Toasted subs...They've been a Philly cusine for generations!!! For the experience and a GODD tasting,Philly Cheesesteak that really IS a Philly Steak..this is the place to go. try a Cheese Steak Hoggie!!! YUM!!!!!
