Outstanding food and drink!!!: My now 32 year old son had his 1st margarita there. The place is like home! It's a family tradition we have watch Carmen's and Fernando's children grow into fine adults and restaurantors.

Surprisingly good for Chicago: Finding decent Mexican food in Chicago, having some from California, has been a painful challenge. Contrary to what many restaurants practice, grease is not a flavor, and burnt is not a style. At Fernando's however, the food tasted good, and the service was slow but friendly.

A once a year pleasure: I lived in chicago, but moved away 7 years ago.
Every summer I am back in chicago and this is the FIRST place I go, even before seeing family, because at Fernando's I am treated like family!
