| About: | Welcome to The Children's Corner The Children's Corner preschool is designed to provide every child with a rewarding preschool learning experience. Our intentions are to strengthen each child's developmental skills to the best of his/her potential. Socially, we recognize the value of teaching children to live cooperatively with others, to gain a sense of responsibility, and to develop a feeling of self-worth. Typically, our session begins with circle time activities in each of our two classrooms. At this time children sing hello, talk about the calendar and weather, learn songs, and share news with each other. The teacher introduces the thematic unit being presented that day and the learning choices being offered in each area of interest. The day includes choices in language development and small motor activities, a large motor game, arts and crafts, dramatic play, music and story time and snack. Our program offers a whole language unit approach to learning. Our two to three week units center around various interest themes including: Holidays Shapes & colors Countries of the world Nursery rhymes Health & safety Simple machines Artist & illustrations Children's literature Magnets Electricity Plants Animals Five senses Alphabet Ecology Rain forest Math & science Transportation Solar system Dinosaurs Across the USA Music & drama Under the sea About me & my community Our staff The Children's Corner has nurtured thousands of children from the Kankakee Valley since 1976. Through the years we have heard the same comment over and over again: that our staff and program give each child the love of learning and the sound foundation necessary for future school success. Our staff proudly meets individual student?s needs with a 1:6 or better teacher to student ratio. Our oldest child has been a student here for almost one and one-half years and every day I am reaffirmed of the value they provide. From numbers, to letters, to writing, the Childrens Corner presents everything our four year old needs prior to starting Kindergarten. We are thoroughly delighted with this investment in our child's education and would highly recommend the Childrens Corner to any parent interested in making sure their child starts out ahead in their pursuit of life-long education.
