User Rating: 5 out of 5 starsI have been dining at Lanuti's for over 40 years. This family run restaurant has outstanding food! They have absolutely the best shrimp, Turtle and fried chicken, anywhere! And, the homemade pasta sauce is out of this world. Dena and John are wonderful and treat everyone like family. When you go to Lanuti's, you feel like you are at home.

Lanuti's is REOPENING TODAY! I have been waiting for their Turtle and finally tomorrow I will have it! I am so glad everyone is doing well and they are open again!

I can attest to the comments in the previous reviews, as I've been a lifelong resident of Bureau County, and a semi-regular customer throughout that time. I'd like to place a special emphasis on the pizza, as that's always been my favorite menu item, and exclusively for the last 25 years at least. Dena makes them herself, she tells me, every Monday, and once I asked her about the cheese she uses and she hushed right up and wouldn't tell me -- it's not mozarella, at least not any kind of ordinary mozzarella, and I always suspected it wasn't, because I knew the cheese was what gave it its extraordinary flavor.
I write this in part out of tribute, and in part out of concern, as I called tonight to order, and received a recorded message telling me they're still closed for vacation, and expressing Dena's thanks for the cards and letters. I hope nothing bad has happened?Comments (1)

In response to your concerns about nothing bad having happened, I was just told by my mother this morning that Dena fell and broke her hip. They have been closed since this happened, and there is speculation of them not reopening, but I truly hope that's not the case. This place has been a restaurant that many generations of my family has broken bread at. They treat you like family here, and my heart would just break if the tradition were to end.

Yes, no doubt, it is a great day that Lanuti's has reopened. We all feared that it was done for good. Best turtle in the area and the pizza is fantastic too.
