The pasta is very watery. The bread is too sweet. Not very friendly people.
The best garlic bread ever!!: La Gondola is a wonderful place...the employees are very nice...and the garlic bread is to die for!! It's more of a fast food style...which is nice since I'm always on the go, and I love Italian food. However, they don't have very good red sauce....but their Alfredo sauce is awesome!! So I always get the chicken alfredo dinner...with the garlic bread and salad. its an amazing amount of food for the price! and the Italian dressing for the salad is the best I've ever had...it puts the store bought kind to shame. Overall, the place is great....just don't get anything with red sauce unless you like your sauce bland.
Great local place: Great food, great price...excellent for the college crowd. The Torpedo, commonly mistaken by idiots to be Gondolas...are more flavorful and a great twist on "Italian Cuisine," with its delectable sweet bread! Try it, you'll love it too!!

Back when La Gondola first opened in the Peoria area, with stores in Sunnyland, Creve Couer, later Washington as it spread, the Torpedo was in fact called a "Gondola." Avanti's had a fit, claiming they owned the rights to the name of the sandwich. So, La Gondola (allowed to keep the restaurant name) had a customer contest to rename their sandwich. "Torpedo" was the final choice, and thus La Gondola avoided a lawsuit from Avanti's. And that ends our history lesson for the day. :-)
