My husband and I had been looking for a preowned truck for a few weeks. When we drove into Delevan, Illinois and saw Ronald Rich Ford's selection of trucks, we were so excited and were sure there would be something within our price range there. Unfortunately, the management was not intested in selling us anything. After researching elsewhere, we had an idea of what the going price was going to be for the type of truck we were looking for, which was a 1998-2000 extended cab Ford F150. When we entered the dealership, with no introduction, the salesman immediately wanted to know what type of vehicle we were looking for and how much we could spend. He would do nothing until we had told him our limit was $8000. Interesting, out of hundreds of trucks, there were only three that he could show us that were right at $8000 and none below. The trucks that were shown to us were far below the caliber that we had seen elsewhere and should have been seveal thousand less than what they were. We told him we had researched and found numerous trucks well within the $5000-$8000 range that were newer with no mechanical problems, but wanted to buy somewhere closer to home. He proceeded to tell us that we might have to try looking near Chicago because the demand for trucks is not as great there as it is here, and that we probably wouldn't find what we were looking for in this area for the price we wanted to spend. We got the feeling we were being blown off and that he really didn't care if he sold us a truck at all and that we were wasting his time. We proceeded to go to a local Ford dealership in Eureka, Illinois (which is quite a ways from Chicago) and purchased a 2000 Ford F150 extended cab 4-wheel drive for under our limit that was spotless and had no mechanical flaws. My recommendation for anyone looking for a vehicle is don't waste your time at Ronald Rich Ford in Delavan, Illinois.
On Feb. 2, 2008, my husband and I went to Roland Rich to purchase a truck. We had narrowed down our selection to two trucks. We went in, introduced ourselves and began inquiring about the two dual rear wheel
F- 350 trucks that we were interested in. It didn't take us long to figure out that the owner, Roland Rich, had no interest in selling us anything. We spent approx. 20 minutes being educated by him as to why we did not need either of the trucks. He even took the time to belittle the previous customer that had come in with only $2,000.00 to spend. I tried repeatedly to bring him back to the vehicles that we were interested in. He had clearly made up his mind that we could not afford either of these trucks, even after I told him that I would be writing a check for the difference after trade in. Roland went on to tell us how soft the market was, how expensive gas/diesel would be for us, the cost of tires and oil changes. Not once did he offer to go pull either truck out for us to look at. He had the nerve to ask us if we had any better clothes at home that we could have worn to purchase a car. With that I grabbed my purse and walked to the door. I could not believe that this gentleman, who had taken the time to tell us how soft the market was, had made a judgment of what we could afford based on what we were wearing. I wasn't aware that there was a dress code, in the middle of winter, at a small town dealership that doesn't event take the time to clear snow from around their vehicles. As I approached the door, Roland stated, "I hope I didn't offend you." I replied, "You did!" I went home, called a Chevy dealership and will now be purchasing a Chevy. In my career, I do quite a bit of training/speaking about customer service, or the lack there of. I will get quite a bit of mileage out of this incident.
Great mechanics , great garage, poor management: I like the service department. The management has a lot to be desired.
The lot needs cleaned up. More attention needs paid to what is on the lot and less attention to adding more cars. There is NO WHERE for customers to pull in and park. If you can get to the garage the work is good.
