1. Took my family on a great drive along the river towns and saw the Barefoot restaurant. Talked everyone into trying it since I like adventure and new things.
The place was packed and I thought we must have stumbled into something great.
What a nightmare!
It took over and hour to get our main meal.
We had a table by the windows and while eating our salads, watch a boater dock his boat and the family of four came in. Next thing I realize, those people are eating. So as we started looking around the place, we saw other people eating that were behind us while in line and others were done and paying.
I got up and the found our server and she was just getting our food out and I ask her what the problem had been. She blamed the kitchen and brought or food to the table. She asked if we needed anything else and I said tartar sauce for the catfish. She never came back!
I went up to the register and asked for the owner, introduced myself and shook his hand and then made the comment "I have an issue" from that point on, he was a jerk! As I tried to explain my "issue" he cut me off constantly and said my food took so long because I ordered chicken & fish and they take 30 minutes to cook. I let him know that I worked my way through school waiting tables in many different types of places and I knew better than that.
He was so rude and un-professional and had no manners and did not care that I was upset and just wanted him to know. I never asked for anything to be free or something else for free. He raised his hands to me and said "Well go on then" like go way!
I said "oh! really" and thanked him for the lack of consideration and went back to my table to eat.
The food was good but not great. The floors were covered in food and no one even tried to clean up.
The restrooms stunk and were gross!
I understand that things get crazy in restaurants and people get behind. I can over-looked a lot of things but the owner being rude and not listening or making any effort to show he cared, NEVER!
I am 47 years old and have never written a review on anything on the internet before but I swore I was going to figure it out after I was walking up to pay and the owner saw me walking up with my family and turned is back and would not look at us as we left.
He just wanted our money and wanted us to leave because he some how must have a successful business and does not need to care about all of his customers any more.
The man has forgotten how to serve the public and does not deserve my money or yours!
Take my advice and keep driving northwest just a little farther down the road and spend your money at the Kampsville Inn where we were treated like family.
This was hands down the one of the worst restaurants I have ever been to. The entire place smelled like cat pee. Quite a few tables were dirty and there was only four other people eating. Since the place smelled like cat pee we asked the waitress if we could eat at the table on the deck outside. It was a beautiful day but we couldn't because the waitress rudely informed us she doesn't serve outside. Her apron was filthy and disgusting. She took our ordered, brought our food, and handed us our check. She never came back to check on us. Instead, she sat in the corner playing scratch off lottery games. The bathroom smelled like pee, but this time it was just human pee so I guess that makes it alright. To top it all off the other four customers in this dirty establishment were very loudly burping and farting. While the scenery on the river was neat and the food was edible, I would recommend finding someplace else to eat.
Thr fried chicken and potatos/gravy are great, would go back
