    El Mezcal is great! I have had the fajita salad which is awesome, chile poblano very good and the combination plate for only $8. My daughter had the carne asada steak taco, the meat tasted like it was marinated forever, yum! My combination was a tomale, chalupa and chile relleno. All excellent. We too recommend the cheese sauce for your chips. The only downfall is the salsa. The service is always good, they are very helpful. Will go again for sure.

    My husband loves him some El Mezcal! Any time I ask him where he wants to eat, his response is "El Mezcal." There are several of them around, this one is my favorite.

    Added bonus: It doesn't get much more budget-friendly than El Mezcal. Great prices!

    Biggest downfall: El Mezcal in Alton received the LOWEST score from the Health Dept. in the entire Alton area. They got a 76 out of 100. This disappoints me, as most places around got an 89-99, some even got 100. CLEAN UP YOUR ACT EL MEZCAL, BECAUSE YOU HAVE GREAT FOOD!

    Always a good place: This place rates the top of my lists whether I go for lunch or supper.. It is delicious.. THe employess are always in a good mood and friendly. The food is awesome.. A must have is the cheese dip... YUMMMM

    Update.. This is STILL my foremost favorite place to go have lunch with good freinds.. I would even meet an enemy there just to eat.. If you have not gone there yet thenI suggest you do.
