On January 30, 2009 my husband and I had my car towed to Roger Jennings in Hillsboro Illinois.
The car had a miss on the number 4 cylinder, and we were told that it had bad spark plugs, wires, and coil housing. Before we were to pick it up at 3:00pm, they called and said it also had a bad fuel injector.
My husband informed them that he replaced the plugs and wires just the night before, they then changed their story to only the plug on the number 4 cylinder $10.00, the coil housing $127.00, and the fuel injector $172.00.
When we arrived around 4:00pm to pick-up the car they told us that the fuel injector was not the trouble, and the real problem was the computer for the car. They did not have one but said it was another $530.00 just for the computer.
They said they credited off the $172 for the fuel injector but not the labor!
I told them I would locate a computer and bring it to them.
I rec'd the computer on Tues. 2/3 and delivered it to them. They worked on other cars until 3:00pm, then installed the computer in about 15 minutes. Got my car about 3:15pm.
I paid the bill of $534 drove home, drove back into town for an oil change and went back home. The oil facilityâs service people were highly concerned about the very strong gas fumes coming out of my car. They had to air out their shop. I breathed those fumes until the car was returned to Jennings 2 hours later. I had a headache, and sore throat for 2 days. My garage where I parked the car smelled of strong gas fumes and had to be aired out for 2 days.
My husband looked under the hood to find out where a gas odor was coming from. The fuel injector that they INSTALLED WRONG was leaking gas. Smoke was coming off the engine, it was almost on fire.
The car was returned that same night.
They returned the fuel injector to AutoZone and picked up another one, reinstalled it on Friday 2/6. got the car back approx. 3:45pm.
My husband & I went to AutoZone and asked to see the supposed bad injector, upon inspection the employee and my husband noticed that both seals were missing. The only reason would be if the injector was IMPROPERLY INSTALLED and caused the seals to be damaged. The worker and us, could not believe the seals were not with the part. He said it was unusual that they did not return the part intact.
They over charged for work,& did not perform proper testing of parts before replacing them. The interior of the car had grease on both front seats, the doors, dashboard & window. The check engine light on.
They did not properly install & reset the computer codes to the car and check out the systems.
The check engine light remained on even after the work performed to it with a code that can only be reset by a dealer (Code P0335).
My husband called Dennis Yokley, and he told us to take the car to another dealer and let them re-set it, or drive it to Ohio where we got the part and let them reset it. Finally he told my husband to bring the car in on Monday and they would correct the problem. When he called on Monday, February 09, 2009 to see what time they could work on it, they said they would not work on it until Wednesday, Thursday or Friday.
My husband then called General Motors and logged a complaint with them. I then called the general manager, Dennis Yokley, why they were putting us off and he told me âI have only had one compliant in 20 years and it was through the Attorney General and I WON IT. I am not fixing your car, so BRING IT ON."
Today 1/10/09 my car was fixed 100% by a real dealership. Daley in Gillespie.
Be sure to check out the BBB on them before you do anything with this company. Also the Illinois Attorney General. BEWARE
