New owners: Juarez Mexican restaurant folded and was bought out. The new owners changed the name to El Sombrero. The food is closer to authentic mexican food but still has the Santa Fe (American) influence. Food is not very spicy in flavor, so can satisfy everyone's palette.
They recently started opening earlier for a breakfast/lunch service. The menu has totally different items like chorizo and eggs, huevos rancheros, etc, which are not offered on their afternoon/evening menu.
If you want to sample true authentic mexican food, try the Shrimp Cocktail. This made just like you will find in Mexico. It consists of large peeled shrimp in a thin tomato & clam juice. It will also contain chunks of avocado, pieces of cilantro, diced onion, and diced jalepenos. It will be in a huge cocktail glass on a plate with Mexican saltine crackers & slices of lime. This is true Mexican!!!
well worth your time and money: El Sombrero has an excellent atmosphere and the employees are very friendly and professional. The food is authentic and delicious and is in everyone's price range. It is the type of family resturant every town needs. From the moment I stepped into the place I was hooked and excited because Mascoutah has very few sit down resturants and I love Mexican food. Anyway, this is my review of El Sombrero and I hope everyone can make it out to El Sombrero.
Friendly and fast service: Love the food and the atmosphere. Pleasant, and peaceful.
