We recently stopped at the cafe on a return trip from Branson. The food and service were extremely good. However, the Managers were both standing and staring at their employees and customers. The environment was extremely uncomfortable. If they were checking on their employees, I believe they could have done it in a less conspicious way. At no time did they recognize any customers or smile at anyone. Really an unusual situation.
On average expect to pay $2 - $4 more per item here than most places in Litchfield. It's a decent place for a date or a special meal. I was there once just two or three years ago. They talk up the history, but there are other, less famous stops on Route 66 that are a lot more fun and easier on the billfold.
I'll time trips just so I can stop.: A friend promised a great pork tenderloin sandwich. It was the best Iâve ever had. The chicken livers are unique and to die for, unlike any others Iâve had.

The managers do stand at the door, but they seem to greet guests as they come in, and did not seem to be staring at anyone. Our waiter was very attentive, and relaxed, and did not appear to be nervous about being watched. We were in a group of seven, in a private area of the restaurant, within clear view of the rest of the restaurant, and everyone seemed attentive and relaxed.
