    1/11/09 - We at at this restaurant tonight and as usual it was excellent. It was spicy enough for my husband (which in this part of the midwest is sometimes difficult to keep him happy). I had the beef fajitas for one They were fantastic and the only complaint I have is that there was way too much food. I have ordered fajitas in Mexican restaurants lately that allowed me to order half order and this more closely fits my appetite. This is a great place to eat.

    The restaurant has this ridiculous decor, hideous paint inside and out...and probably some of the best tex-mexican food i have ever tasted...and after 20 years in texas, i have been to a few places for sure...although not on the menue, the salsa verde (green sauce) is excellent, and the burrito grande with pollo (chicken) is excellent...and the price is fair as you will not leave hungry...the service is nothing less than excellent...i have been eating there not for about 4 years and the food is consistantly good...have never had anything there that i didnt like---and i am fussy...
    If traveling, it is worth it both in cost and taste, and you will leave full...

    Best all around mexican food: have ate alot of mexican food and el palenque is about the best that I have tasted. Friendly servers, and always polite.
