I am giving this place five stars. They are not a chain like most resturants and only use fresh food. I love the margaritas the best in the world! I also love their dips! They have great food and a great patio! would go back any day!!
Um, no. This was not even glorified Casa Gallardo. The margaritas were really good, yet small and expensive. I always judge a margarita by the quality (and serving-size) of tequila, and almost as importantly, the sweet and sour. Standard, store-bought, bottled, heartburn-inducing sweet and sour mix won't cut it. Hacienda's claimed to be "special", and I will at least admit it was better than the store-bought junk. The chicken with mole was, unbelievably, actually BREADED CHICKEN TENDERS covered in an okay attempt at mole sauce. Strike one! The free chips seemed almost "double fried" as they were dripping with grease and almost too flaky and crispy if that makes any sense. Strike two! The atmosphere was old and dated and tacky, fake plants everywhere. (not to mention the cheesy Christmas music looming in the background) Strike three! The margarita was delicious, however, the prices aren't listed on the menu, and when I asked the server she said "oh I think they're like $6.50". Well, upon receiving the check, they turned out to be $8.50 each, and they were only a little bigger than a standard glass of wine. For great mexican I stand by El Paisano in South City. The El Paisano classic margarita is TO DIE FOR and they make their own special "sweet and sour" with citrus fruit juice. (And it's HUGE!) Their salsa is also delicous - cilantro fresh with a good kick. Pueblo Solis is delicious but I had a bad experience with a couple hairs hanging out on my plate and can't bring myself to go back.
Patio and covered Patio are the best features of this place if you like outdoor dining.
I tried the Mexican Pizza and thought it was unique and alright. I also had the strawberry empanadas for a treat and they were ok too.
