Visited for the first time 6-6-08. Not impressed. Rudest bartender I've ever encountered. Was not familiar with the choices of beers and when I enquired about such, was told, very abrubtly, to "look on the wall". I then enquired as to whether I could order a martini and was told, again, very abruptly, "this ain't no martini bar". I'll never go back.
Good service, great beer!: The St. Louis Tap Room's newer sibling, Schlafly Bottleworks has most (but not always all) of the same GREAT beers on tap, and terrific friendly service... along with an impressive bottling operation that you can tour. However, the menu differs significantly -- and not in a good way -- from the downtown location's more traditional pub-style fare. (Where are the classic fries?!) Good make-your-own calzones and buffalo burgers, but most of the other selections are just too weird... a bit too "organic" for my friends' and my tastes. (Stay away from the strange purple vegetable-rice-mix side dish... seriously!)
One other ding- when it comes to the live music on offer every weekend? Bottleworks has nothing but Bluegrass... Ugh- PASS.
Still- a great place! Just come for the beer, not the food or music.
