ITS BEEN THERE FOR YEARS...AND WHEN IN ROME DO AS THE ROMANS DO...SO YES ITS A DECENT SPOT TO HANG YOUR HAT..BUT NOTHING TO GO BONKERS ABOUT...THE BURGERS AT THE KIDS HANGOUT ACROSS THE STREET ON THE CORNER ARE GOOD TOO..BUT I'D SAY ITS JUST WHATEVER YOU ARE IN THE MOOD FOR WITH THE LIMITED SELECTION THEY HAVE IN PUXICO. IF WILLING TO GO FOR A DRIVE THEN I'D GO TO POPLAR BLUFF FOR CHINESE..OR DEXTER FOR MEXICAN..OR ST LOUIS ON THE HILL FOR ITALIAN.
I always look forward to going!: Puxico is a very small town, and Mel's Diner plays a huge part in the little town. It's very popular. I moved down here to Puxico from St. Louis area (the city/suburbs to the country) about 2 years ago, and at first I thought it was going to be all terrible. I am a city boy and I am not used to everybody knowing each other and waving at each other. (haha) I was at first, uncomfortable with it. Even though I am still a city boy, and I can't wait to get back to the St. Louis area; Mel's Diner has proven to me that the people of Puxico are really down to earth, and not stuck up old people like I thought they were. When you go into Mel's Diner, you are always greeted with a warm welcome. It is pleasantly decorated with a country scheme. (very home-like), and makes you feel comfortable. Despite the occasional, burnt Country Fried Steak on "busy days", the food is delicious, and they NEVER get your order wrong, and if something isn't to your liking; they will take care of it. The prices are decent. If you are in Puxico for some reason or another, I definately reccomend stopping by Mel's Diner.
Everything is good!: Good home cooking, great waitresses and a friendly atmosphere.
