User Rating: 5 out of 5 starsWe traveled from Texas to Missouri recently to visit my step daughter. She requested us to bring her chinese food for lunch. So I went online to fine a local eatery to order from when we were there. I found Hunan listed with a few good reviews. So that is where we went. I could not have been better served. The staff was friendly and curtious serving food in a timely manner. Even remembering my daughters comments and reminding us when we ordered to make sure she recieved what she wanted. Not fancy on the decor but giving it all in the food. Great taste and good portions. Please visit when you are in the area.
User Rating: 5 out of 5 starsHonestly I have drove right on by this restaurant for years... our family usually got our chinese food fix from a place in Kearney and over the last year the food there just started tasting bad... really bad.
So on the hunt for a new place for good chinese food I read the review for this HUNAN and decided to give it a try.
The results: WOW!
If you want good food and a lot of it, you need to come here! If you want ambiance and a fancy restraunt... go to the plaza. It was not crowded, the staff was friendly, the place was very clean and pleasant!
The cashier was extremely friendly, I placed a large to-go order that was hot and ready within 10 minutes, and was still steaming hot after the 18 mile ride home.
We ordered the family dinner for 3 and 2 orders of extra egg rolls (because the other place's egg rolls were small and I got in the habit of ordering extra to appease everyone in the family) Well at the HUNAN in Excelsior Springs, the egg rolls are nicely sized and stuffed to the brim with goodness!
The family dinner comes with the bo-bo platter, soup, entrees... well after the wonton soups, and the bo-bo... we were stuffed, and put our 3 entrees in the fridge for later... Seriously a lot of great food, and very worth it!
I am now looking forward to leftovers...!
User Rating: 5 out of 5 starsDon't let the building fool you. If you are looking for ambience or atmosphere, this place will disapoint. If you want really good chinese food this is it. I have eaten chinese all over the country and I would rate Hunan in the top ten for variety and food quality. Try the Bo-Bo Platter for great variety.
