regret to say, Main Street Coffee House closed July 2008, but rumor has it another coffee shop will be opening on the square in Independence, MO, sometime this winter.
Yummy! My first trip to this lovely coffee house won't be my last. I had a Chai tea with soymilk, and it was better than a Starbucks Chai. I stayed to listen to the local piano player, and met some very interesting people in the process. The atmosphere is very comfortable, yet stylish -- with real art on the walls. None of that cutesy country stuff that is frequently found in individually owned coffee shops in small towns. I hear there is a loyal following for the morning coffee crowd as well, and the "signature dish" of homemade chicken salad is sure to be a crowd pleaser. They have a nice entertainment line-up scheduled too. If you want a weekend place to hang out, chat with friends, and listen to music in a family friendly environment, this is the place for you.
New ownership of the Main Street Coffee House, located in the Historic Independence Square, has dramatically transformed the quaint bohemian hangout into a stylish and sophisticated meeting place. Red walls, exposed brick and leather furniture create a comfortable atmosphere attracting political pundits, businessmen, and 'Ladies Who Lunch'. Stimulating conversation and a sense of community are the hallmarks of this unique haven. Local artists and musicians are celebrated. Talented and lovely baristas create delicious specialty drinks, prepare lunch for two or twenty, baking fresh cookies daily. In close proximity to local attractions, the coffee house offers a relaxing break after historic tours, shopping or a movie. It's a great place to meet for business or pleasure. Plan to enjoy some time with the "regulars" at Main Street Coffee House soon.
