I used to work there from 94` to like 2000. I have to say this.. Opal and Tina are some of the best employers I will ever have. It was a fun place to work and I always stop by if I am in town and get one of their famous combos. That place used to have a band and be awesome. To hear you say the atmosphere sucks, is sad. I havnt been there in bout 4 years, so I cant say. Those christmas parties were always a blast. Its and experience in my life I wont ever forget. I had made some good friends in those years. In case anyone from FH reads this, it is me Josh, Jason and Trevor`s friend that all worked up there together. I grew up in Raytown but went to the Independence FH because it was always better to me. I will definately be back to say hi and get me one of those Bill Specials this time, YUMMY!!!
Awesome pizza, horrible atmosphere. It's a grease pit, but that's where most of the good food comes from. The inside looks like you are in 1982 and the inch of grease on everything verifies it.
I allmost literally grew up in Fun House. Ok maybe not but since my early childhood, say 2 years old. I have been eating Fun House Pizza. My father actually worked there with my step mother in the mid 70s. They met there, married. What can I say, its a familly affair. I eat there whenever I return to Kansas City and tell all of my Army friends that if they ever visit KC that they at least have to try it. I take my kids whenever we go home, they love it, allthough my wife doesnt care for it (What do Californians know anyway!)I still love it to this day. Independence has declined alot in the last 30 years though and Fun House has not aged well. Sure its exactly what we all remember from years past but Im of the opinion the location could use a little upgrade inside. The restrooms are horrible. One previous reviewers comment about the staff isnt allways true. There are some folks who have been there over 20 years whom I have come to know. Some of the young kids who work for maybe summer jobs or to earn extra cash during school can be rude but what else do you expect from teenagers. Overall, Id say that the food is very enjoyable, unique but enjoyable. The atmosphere is as it has allways been and for those of us who have been over the years we have grown acustome to it. Newcomers may be turned off by the low tech kids rids, seating, and overall look of the place but hey this isnt Chuk e Cheez, its a place those of us have grown to love just like we love our Chiefs, good or bad.
