This restaurant came highly recommended by friends of ours, who live and die by their pizza and lasagna. So on Saturday (9/6) my husband and I drove from our Northland home to have dinner. When we arrived around 6pm it was VERY busy, there was a large group of men, probably about 20 in the main dining area; they must have been there for awhile because they were pretty drunk at this time.
We entered and were greeted by a blonde waitress who said we could sit anywhere, I remember her name was Stacy because one of the guys in the group was yelling her name loudly waving his beer mug in the air when he needed a refill. Anyway, we seated ourselves in a booth by the bar, and Stacy said the other waitress would be with us in just a moment.
Well, the "other" waitress took about 10 minutes to even acknowledge we were even there, and her acknowledgment was "what will it be?"....no hello, how are you, my name is........we felt like an interuption to her t.v. watching behind the bar. I must say, the other waitress, Stacy was working her tail off between the group of men and other tables and she did it well and with a smile on her face to everyone she spoke with, even the rude obnixous drunk guy...:-) If it hadn't been for the slow, service, empty beverages that never got refilled by her, (not once),and lack of attention from a waitress who clearly had other things on her mind, we would have really enjoyed our evening; we ordered salads (which we never received unitl our meal arrived) the lasagna and I believe what they call the sampler and it was fantastic!! BUT, I am a firm believer that a restaurant that serves "so-so" food will keep you coming back if the service is excellent; with that being said any future meals with Cafe al Dente will be take out!! And our friends, well we will be doing the recommendations from here on out!
Perhaps if they can get some more better service in there, it might be worth a return!!

This place is great! It's like being in Italy, with the great food and the relaxed atmosphere. Don't expect a quick meal, they take their time and do it right. I had the house red wine, and it was fantastic. When I told her that, she told me I need to try the 'good' wine. Awesome date place. Please go there and enjoy.
