The place would be great except for bartender/owner Lori's psychotic episodes. Seriously, keep your distance from her if you want to enjoy your evening. She may act like your best pal if you're dropping a lot of cash, but more often than not she's looking for someone to pick a fight with. More than half the times I've gone to Balanca's with friends, the evening ended with her blowing up at some unsuspecting sap, shouting racial slurs at them and following it up with physical abuse. If you want to piss away a bunch of cash and have your evening ruined by a racist, drugged-out, classless lunatic, by all means, go to Balanca's.

Great place...very friendly: This is the best place Ive been to in KC yet. With in minutes, the patron were talking to me and very open and friendly. The young lady shared her wine with me, and several gentlemen bought me drinks....everyone was soooo nice. This is what Im talking about, the "cheers" of KC, where everyone knows you and is happy.
