WoW! We also had a terrible experience at Union Station.
I did take the time to voice to everyone who I could find ...
And they wonder why they are in the financial situation they are in?
Kansas City is blessed with wonderful places ... we won't be returning and are encouraging our contacts to do the same.
Photo shoot at Union Station-
We went to the Union Station to take photos and the guards were the most rudest people I ever met. They almost knocked the photographer camera out of his hands and was physcially trying to stop the group from taking photos at the fountain.
The guards stated that a month ago they changed their polices and now charge $75 to shoot photos at Union Station. Well the Bride had call 2 months before and there was no charge.
We would have paid the $75 but the guards were so rude and busy trying to chase us off the property even after we paid $5.00 to park.
We all pay taxes but I don't want to ever visit the Union Station again. I am telling all my friends and relatives not to go there because they do not know how the talk to people or treat them.
I am also going to talk to members of the City Council and the Mayor about closing this place or firing the current help because this is not good for vistors coming to our city or people living in this city.
Terrible service -----
LOVE Union Station. This is our kids FAVORITE place... Don't let the other reviews change your mind. This place is fantastic. Full of history, science, theater, special attractions, fantastic architecture and a great place to people watch, much like "the days of old..."
Science City is one of the best science museums we've ever gone to. We've gone coast to coast to science centers through ASTC. It is the ONLY science museum that is set up to resemble science in everyday life that we've been to. Science in criminal investigation, science is meterology, science in space exploration, science in optical illusions, science is sports, science in nature, science in how our city operates are just a few... The planetarium shows for the most part are really for young children, but even our 12 year old can find himself laughing. And while we've been there a few times when something didn't work, we just found a staff member and it was usually up and running in minutes. Unless someone tells them, they don't know if something happens. My daughter somehow got a ball stuck in the golf exhibit perfectly and made all the other balls stuck that came after. Things happen. I can't keep my computer from crashing every few days either.
Don't miss riding the bike on the wire. This is great for kids and adults.
We love to eat at Harvey's. Use to be the old Harvey House. Food is always good, but don't be in a hurry, as you are there for a good hot meal not fast food. It's neat to walk around and look at all the photos.
Most of the thime there is a free exhibit out that we enjoy in the main area.
There are other museums there besides the Science Museum... Trains, minature trains, Irish Culture and toy....
It is just a fantastic. Sorry the others are all downers about Union Station. Obviously, they are probably enslaved to the tv and do not have any culture.
If you can't live your day without shopping. If you walk through Harvey's you will find a walkway that leads to Crown Center too...
Lots to do....
