We had a party there and they were great. The owner is so nice. They also do a bunch of off-site catering. They were catering a group of 500 on the same day they did our party at the restaurant.
The food is the best I've tasted in the area. I'm pretty picky most of the time. I get bad headaches when places load you up with MSG. I never had that problem here.
This is one of those go-to, simple but satisfying chinese-american restaurants. Perfect hangover food and unlike many other chinese places in KC, the food isn't soaked in an abundance of oil. The staff is extremely friendly and attentive. Check out their "Duck 3 Ways" for a cheap and romantic dinner- husband and I are having it for our Christmas Eve Meal. For 37bucks you get an insane amount of food, served in courses. Their cocktails and tea list are fun and don't miss their twin roll appetizer-they are heaven.
I agree with what a few others have said, not good enough for the price. EXCEPT.. the lunch specials are a good deal... the fried rice and the lo mein are both HUGE and pretty good.. and the house plates, though very expensive, are VERY good... specially left over(which for me is a big consideration with Chinese food) I actually bought it once and put it aside knowing it would be better later from the fridge... the Gen. Tso Chicken, a staple of Chinese-American cuisine and my usual standard by which to judge a Chinese restaurant.... is not good..
