I am a fan of Jack Stack BBQ, but can't afford to go there much. I discovered Big T's when it opened in a tiny shop at Longview Rd and Blue Ridge near my job and have loved it every since. It is every bit as good as Jack Stack, but without the high price tag and fancy decor. I can get a double decker sandwich, fries and small baked beans and feed two people. I don't care for the fries, but that is my preference. They are fresh made (not frozen) and are crispy and brown. The beans are sweet and flavorful. Haven't tried the ribs, but everything else is great.
It is not a fancy place, in fact the blue ridge location used to be a Wendy's years ago. But the food is fresh, you get it fast and it is inexpensive as BBQ goes.
Big Ts is the BBQ headquarters for Kansas City. Both locations are friendly and the wait time is not that bad. They also serve rib tips unlike gates and LC's bbq. If you have not been I suggest you visit them ASAP.
Big T's is the best BBQ ih the world! We've been eating there since they started in business and only 2 times can I think of the food wasn't as good as it usually is.
We even saw Marcus Moore from channel 9 eating dinner there one night!
Double decker, beef & pork, that's what I get. One order of fries is plenty for two people. No place else in KC like it, real BBQ at its best.
We don't live around there anymore but when we need a BBQ fix it is well worth the drive to eat there.
