About:Built in 1898, this restaurant is the oldest in St. Joseph and serves excellent hand-cut aged beef and homemade specialties Monday through Friday for lunch and dinner and Saturday for dinner only. They are closed on Sunday.

    Local favorite for years: This is not a fancy place, and the location is rather...er...well across from a used building material business. But don't let the location put you off. This is a busy place for business lunches and impressing people who want something along the quality of the Hereford House, which really didn't impress me like I thought it would. I guess I've tasted "excellent" in St. Joe with the Hoof and Horn. Try their spinach salad, it's great.

    Good Steaks...Better Burgers: This is one of my favorite St. Joe Icons...and now they have expanded to a place in Atchison too!!! Yay for me...that is a little closer. Try the twice baked potato or the apetizer sampler for a real treat!
