Will be back! Finding this place was like finding a jewel! Appears to be family owned and managed. Clean, friendly and quiet. Loved everything we ordered. What impressed me most was that the vegetables in our stir fried rice and our soup were obviously added at the end of cooking which kept them from getting too soft. I also liked the subtle, delicate spices they used. Love this place!
Wonderful: Small place, but so good. The almond chicken is fab, and everything is made with care. Fresh and healthy too.
One of our favorite restaurants!: My husand and I love this place - it really is a "hidden treasure" as another reviewer said! I love it because it is one of the few Asian restaurants I've found that offers a wide variety of mild (yet still very flavorful) dishes -- though you can still order many dishes spicy if you like! I also like how most of the dishes have a variety of vegetables included in the stir-fries, and even the dishes that are just meat with rice or noodles usually have a small salad or veggie side. The menu is varied with chicken, beef, seafood, and vegetarian dishes. Between my husband and I, we've tried almost everything on the menu and have liked all of it! My favorites include the Royal Almond Chicken, Beef with Black Bean Sauce (lunch menu only), Basil Beef, and Curry Chicken. My husband loves the Rendang Beef, Seared Scallops, and the fried rice meals. All of my coworkers (except one) also love this place!
The service is great, though lately they have been a bit slower only because they have been more busy (apparently more people are starting to discover how great this place is!). Friday nights are busy, but Saturdays are still usually uncrowded. The restaurant is small and there is no waiting area, so if you arrive during a busy time you'll have to wait outside or standing in between tables near the door. You can also get take-out, though again you'll have the problem of no waiting area unless there are open tables for you to sit at. The restaurant is also closed on Sundays, so it won't work for an after-church lunch.
Overall though, I highly recommend it! We are moving to Overland Park soon, but we will still make an effort to occasionally drive the 30 or so miles back to Malay Cafe!
