This is just not a good company. It initially took them 6 weeks to transfer my film to video. When I finally received the video, most of it had what looked like a thread or fuzz in various places throughout the video. When I called them they said it must be on my original film that I had sent them. I had to go back and watch several hours of film to see if they were right. They weren't. The original film was fine. After several discussions with them, they agreed to re-transfer everything. I shipped everything back to them and the re-transfer took another several weeks. When I received their second attempt back, the video was now very dark and out of focus. They checked their copies and agreed that it was unacceptable. They said the technician must have "turned the wrong knob" on the equipment. I shipped everything back to them for the third time and after a total of 3 months I've finally received my completed order. What an ordeal!

What made this worse is never once did their customer service people apologize or express any regret whatsoever for their mistakes. They acted as if this sort of thing happened all the time. From numerous conversations with various people at the company, it seems that a very high percentage of their customers are unhappy. Their approach seems to be just keep re-doing the order until they finally get it right or the customer gets worn out from dealing with them for months and months.

My recommendation is don't send your movies to this company!

These folks do an excellent job and display a fine attention to detail. They continue to "wow" customers and the quality of the transfers never ceases to amaze. I have sent them old 8mm reels that I never thought could ever be restored... I was very wrong. From the customer service to the delivery, a very sharp business!

I REALLY hope the reviews about The Home Movie Depot are accurate regarding quality...because with as long as I have had to wait for my order...they better be above and beyond my expectations. They received my order Feb 19th and I have yet to receive my final product and it is May 21st today. I have e-mailed them several times and I get a generic response back. They can never give me any kind of idea when I should expect to receive the finished product. I wish I had read the reviews prior to sending them my tapes...I would have chosen someone else since It has taken SOOOO long. If I had known it would take over 3 months to process...I NEVER would have given them my tapes...now I am stuck. Frustrated!!!!
