Porky's Smokehouse Family

My family eats at Porky's about once a week. We always receive excellent service, no matter how busy they are. The food is exactly what it should be. It's home cookin. I've given it three stars because I've eaten at five star restaurants. This is a nice homey, country restaurant. It probably IS the best restaurant in Mexico.

I have enough interaction with the owner of the business both at Porky's and in the community to know that the negative review here is most likely a huge exaggeration or that pertinent facts have been left out of the review. I'm sure there's more to that story.

good food: Porkys food is always good. Everytime our family goes we have a nice time. Our families have come to town and requested to eat there many times. They have homemade, hand cut french fries, almost like potatoes and onions. My husband always orders a huge breaded tenderloin and usually makes 2 meals out of it. Their barbeque is smoky and sweet and very tasty. The waitresses are very casual and helpful. When we've ever had a problem it was handled swiftly and effeciently. The people in the previous review must have had a bad night, and may have added to the problem. There are 2 sides to every situation. I'd give it a try and I have a feeling you will not be disappointed.

Worst restaurant experience ever: Myself and a group of employee's I work with made reservation here for a friend's going away party. There was about 30 of us. We called and ordered our food 4 hours ahead of time, and made the reservations a week in advance. When we got there things was going well. They was taking care of us, getting everyone their food. A half our after being there, there was still about 5 or 6 people without food, the waitresses were getting very rude, nobody had drinks, and some people that did have food didn't have silverware. We kept asking for the tings we needed, and wasn't getting any of it. Then the Restaurant owner comes down and starts going off on us. Keep in mind that there are children in the room, but that doesn't stop her. She comes down cursing at everyone, proclaiming that she has the best restaurant in Mexico and this and that. This goes on for a good ten minutes, finally while this is still going on people get up and start leaving. She tells us our money is no good here and never to come back. All we did wrong was, make reservations a week in advance, thus giving them plenty of time to get staffing ready, call and order our food 4 hours ahead of time, thus giving them plenty of time to have it prepared, and ask for drinks and silverware that we needed. But that was too much for them to handle. Best restaurant in Mexico I ask you? I think not. Cursing in front of children and making a fool out of yourself in front of everyone, how irresponsible can a restaurant owner be? Needless to say, none of us will ever be going back.
