User Rating: 3 out of 5 starsBeing from out of town, this restaurant was recommended to me as one that served great, classic italian food. So with a healthy appetite and wallet I took a friend there recently for an early dinner, hoping that it was all they said it was. Sadly, it wasn't. The first indication was my salad which was served with a tomato way past it's prime and some limp letttuce. Hmmm. Next up was a wonderful sounding prawn appetizer that was tasty but I really didn't get what they were thinking with the rest of the mess in the martini glass it was served in. It was just weird. For my entree I ordered Ossobuco, a favorite of mine. While the meat was soft and the serving large enough, it was virtually without any flavor due to the exclusion of herbs or spices including the traditional gremolata that goes on top. What a letdown. A pricey one. For the romantics, yes, the ambience is great and for someone who hasn't had a great deal of experience in culinary pursuits, the food will be fine. I wish it had been better for my visit, I really wanted to like this place. Maybe it was just an off night, who knows.

User Rating: 5 out of 5 starsIf you are looking for a romatic night out with a loved one this is the place to take them. We went here for our 10th wedding anniversary not knowing what to expect. From the moment we entered the door we knew it was the right choice. When we entered Mr. Gilardi himself greeted us. We sat dowm to a beautiful candle lite table. The lights are turned down low. The waiter was very nice and would check on us often. We ordered an appetizer and a salad...both we very good. For the main course I had the Gilardi pasta and my husband had their special, chicken marsala. Our food was amazing. As we were leaving I noticed everyone that worked in the ristorante telling to come back and thanking us for dinning with them. We were just about to leave when we ran into Mr. Gilardi and I expressed to him how wonderful he had made our evening...He then said " It is your anniversary " He said "you can not leave without a glass of champane" He brought us back into the ristorante and told evryone it was our 10th anniversary...everyone congratulated us. My husband and I will never forget our experience eating here and will definitely be back in the future!! Thank you to Mr. and Mrs. Gilardi for having your business in Springfield, MO!!
