I went to see a movie here last week and was pleasantly surprised at the amazingly comfortable reclining seats. I would go back to this theater for the comfort level of the seating. It is the best I've experienced in Springfield to date. I didn't get any snacks that time so I have no idea how their food is.
The Springfield 8 is my choice for movies in Springfield. The have the biggest auditoriums. While they aren't stadium seating, they are comfortable and have a good incline to provide a good view of the screen. I can sit in the first few rows and still not be too close to the screen.
The popcorn is the best in the area, not stale or chewy, and not full of crumbs like some of the others. If you sign up for their newsletter you get coupons for discounted concessions such as a large popcorn and a 20 oz drink for under $3.
The drinks are Pepsi products (like all the theaters in the area, except Moxie. I prefer Coke). They have Dr. Wells instead of Dr. Pepper. I think there was some fallout with them a few years back as they used to carry it.
They do show commercials in front of the movies, as does the other first run theater in the area.
That guy sounds like a disgruntled ex employee. I take my children there, and we love it there. The staff is nice, it's not too cold in the theatre, the popcorn is good as well as the drinks. And they run great specials for a $1 sometimes for kid movies.
