I really like having a late lunch here. The service is great! The food is great. Ilike to go in and ask the bartender "what's good today" and they are never wrong. The menu at lunch is nicely priced. The drinks are good. I ejoy the place very much.
This a a review of Pachamamas at their new, New Hampshire Street location. My wife had wanted to go to Pachamamas for years. It has a reputation for beening one of the best resturants in Lawrence (although a bit expensive). We went for Dinner 3/09. We selected one of the Entrees recommended by our waiter. Amazingly, I found that the food was not that good (appetizer and entree). However, since my wife had wanted to go to Pachamamas for so long, I kept my opinion to myself. Then, halfway through the entree, my wife commented that the taste of the food was less than she had expected for a place with its reputation. At one point, she actually apologized for her opinion, stating that she must have "an uneducated palate." After the 3rd defense of the resturant, and an 3rd apology for her palate, I finally said: "Maybe the food just doesn't taste good." During the several weeks after our experience, I, occasionally, asked friends if they had ever eaten at Pachamamas (just an open-end question, no negative inflection). A surprising majority of the responses indicated that they went to the resturant with high expectations (because of its reputation); but, were disappointed with the food. So there you have it, a resturant with a mythically fine reputation, but mixed reviews (to say the least). Rating: I would rated the appetizer & entree Poor to Below Average, Service: Average. Dessert was Excellent. Overall, I would rate the experince Poor to Below Average. However, the dessert was Excellent, and because we spend a good bit of money (it must have been better than Poor--right?), I will give it 3 Stars (there is not 2.5 Star rating available). Giving the rave reviews elsewhere (e.g., on this site), give the resturant's Dinner menu a try. My friends, my wife and I may just have uneducated palates.
My favorite in Lawrence! (new location): This is my favorite place for lunch or an early dinner. The lunch menu and great daytime bartender make this a must stop on a day off with a friend or loved one.
The pricing of the lunch menu will be a pleasant surprise to most (it is very resonable). My dinner experience was top notch. The best wine list I have found in Lawrence to date.
Great, quality staff and the best deserts in the area!!!!!!!!!.
