To be completely honest, I was completely taken back by the food at Riad. It is some of the best Greek/Mediteranean food I have ever had. The hummus and baba gannouch (sp?) is absolutely amazing. With a couple of different visits the lamb kabobs and gyros were fantastic. And guess what folks, I'm picky. The bartender was very good and the service is great. Only complaint...the restaurant was empty! People need to go in and have a dinner and see what great food is. I don't give these reviews freely - this restaurant is a gem tucked away. Go give it a whirl!
I love Riad's. Where else can you get food like this in Springfield? The service is usually fantastic and there has never been a dish there I didn't like. It's a good place to hang out too, great drink specials every night of the week. They have a really big patio too, so it's good people watching downtown :)
Riad's is a nice bar to look at, but once you get past the looks it's a typical bar. There were open electrical junction boxes through out the bar, they had one bar maid and she was unbelievably cold; I had to call her twice before she took the orders from my table.
My friends and I had gone out to Riad's to see how well they handled the hookah side of their business. It turns out that they can't handle it at all. The only thing they did right was to chill the base of the hookah. The hookah was held together with hot glue; where the neck and the base meet; the censure cover was just placed on top instead of being held on with a bracket, and the hose had a leak so you couldn't get a decent pull from the hookah.
We left after one drink each. This was the only pleasant part of the whole experience, the low drink prices. If you want to go to a hookah bar, find some place else. Riad's is a bar first and everything else is a distant second.
