I have gone to steves several time. WAY better than meat at walmart or the grocery stores. Bonless pork chops second to none, lean ground beef you cook and barely have to drain grease from. Best strip steaks I have ever ate. Prices low for what you get.
The only way I would ever go back to Steve's Meat Market again is if someone paid me.
I recently purchased a bulk package; 40 lbs of beef for about $120. It had about 10-12 packages of ground chuck; 4 packages of round steak; 1 package of t-bones; 1 package of porterhouse; 2 arm roasts with the biggest bones I have ever seen; and a couple of packages of rib steaks. We probably ended up with 20 lbs of fat, 5 lbs of bone and 15 lbs of meat.
All the meat has had a horrible flavor with the exception of one of the t-bones. The cuts of meat that were in this package I would be embarrassed to sell someone if I was a butcher. It was most likely the stuff in the case that would not sell that he had to freeze before he could no longer sell it.
I realize he is not a supermarket/grocery store, but when you open a steak package that weighs about a pound and you get less than 4 oz of meat, that's not right. The ground chuck has had almost the same problem; loaded with fat. The arm roasts and round steaks have been nothing but bones.
If you absolutely have to go to Steve's, I hope it's your only choice and I hope you only choose things out of the case. They are a little better but not much.
