This place is great. I get the sultan's kifta and he makes it specially for me with grilled vegetables instead of potatoes.
I cannot duplicate it at home.
I love the food here and somehow even if it has been six months, this guy remembers me.

This is not as fancy as some restaurants but the food is and so is the service. They will even make items for you to take home. My kids love it as their favorite Lawrence restaurant eating the hummus and pita and I the gyro plate with rice.

Aladdin Cafe is a vegetarian's dream! REAL nourishing food, flavorful and a bargain too! I can't say enough good things about it, except it is much better than the other greek restaurant downtown. The humus is THE best around - sooooo creamy and just the right amount of garlic and spices. Their pita bread is very good and not greasy like some other places. Try their vegetarian plattter - and get a smorgusboard of tasty food. BUT be sure to save room for desert - and I am NOT talking bakalava but their rice pudding! Throw out what ever you are thinking about rice pudding you have had before - this is gourmet and incredible! It goes well with a cup of turkish coffee which is spiced with cardamon and other exotic spices and is way beyond expresso. All in all, Aladdin cafe is one of the best in Lawrence and why I eat there whenever I get a chance!!
