BAD SERVICE!!! MANAGER WAS NOT FRIENDLY!!!!
Myself and 6 of my co-workers visited Barley's on 119th and Quivira and received horrible service. Our waiter Casey was super nice, however very slow! We gave him our credit cards at the beginning of lunch to help speed up the process however he completely forgot to run them. My co-worker order a salad w/out nuts and they gave him nuts, it took them 20 minutes to get a new salad to him and the new salad was wrong as well! The manager was helping serve us and he was a jerk. He acted like we didn't matter and never once asked how things were or when we told him we needed things he seemed annoyed. We are good patrons we've been to Barley's numerous times PRIOR to the Grand Re-Opening and it was fine, now on this visit it was horrible, food took forever, drinks took forever, they made mistakes with the food, the checks, etc. VERY DISAPPOINTING and unfortunately me and my co-workers will not be going back!!!!!!
If you are an afficionado of beers from around the globe, this little bar is for you. Great burgers also
Writing letters about fine dining establishments is my passion but this is a first for me! We donât often frequent nor have I ever taken the time to write to a chain-type eatery. But your outstanding restaurants go far beyond the ordinary and the folks at the Overland Park Barleyâs deserve a personal, note of thanks!
So I begin by offering my gracious appreciation to you for making Barleyâs Brewhaus seem like it is one of a kind, and not part of a âcare-less,â chain of nationally known, boring slop-shops.
As always, we were promptly greeted and seated by a pleasant, smiling hostess. We have had many fine wait staff serve us but this time, waiter extraordinaire, Geoffrey Davenport really went out of his way! He quickly greeted us, told us his name and took our drink order. (I am a stickler for prompt drinks! I can usually sum up our dining experience by judging how long it takes to be seated, drinks taken, then served. Not always, but I would say 90% of the time, we will have a great dining experience if this practice takes less than 2 minutes.)
Besides the plethora of wall-to-wall fresh brews, another pleasantry for âThe Brewhausâ is your extensive and colorful menu. Accompanied with articulate descriptions, never have we been disappointed with any of your mouthwatering entrées. Chef Nick Townsend creates some masterful presentations! Always piping hot, each generous portion explodes with hints of fresh oregano, parsley and rosemary.
Waiter Geoff informed us of the dayâs specials. My wife choose the outstanding chopped-salad. Served in a chilled bowl, the hearty mix of greens, was cold and crisp, piled high with plenty of meats and cheeses. I have to have your wonderful Creaser Salad, and garlic mashers, both of which are the best in town. For me, the meat seems almost an option! But the fresh salmon or the double cut pork chops are my usual. Assistant Manager, Matthew Hunter always visits our table. He has personally popped many a fine cork from your very reasonably priced, extensive wine list. I usually go with the Folie a Deux, Menage aâ Trois red blend, but this time I choose the 2005 Trinchero Family, Lake County, Cab. So pleasant to find you decided to approach the pricing of your wines, making them âaffordable,â to all. I know this concept has probably doubled your wine sales. This also keeps a lot of us serious wine-bibbers, like myself, being tempted to pay corkage fees.
When we finished our meal, we were gifted another surprise. Geoffrey Davenport treated us to your fabulous fresh and hot, âApple Riverâ delight. Of course, it was topped with three scoops for vanilla ice cream.
More times than I can remember, and never once being disappointed, my wife and I thoroughly enjoy each relaxing and pleasurable visit to âBrawleyâs Brewhausâ!
Please be assured, we have done our part to tell others about your wonderful restaurant and the fine, fun crew who graciously serve at the Overland Park location.
A devoted and thoroughly satisfied customer,
Woody Woodward
